What protects your prices
Safety limit
A change larger than your limit (15% by default) is held for approval. It is never silently capped.
Rate guard
A rate is accepted only if it is fresh, agrees with the second provider, and is not an unconfirmed spike. Otherwise the last accepted rate stays in force, and after 72 hours pricing stops.
Checks at write time
A planned change is written only if the variant's inputs are unchanged since the preview and its live price is still the one the preview saw.
Small-change filter
Changes below the threshold (0.25% by default) are skipped, so prices do not flicker.

How a price is calculated
- Metal value = weight in grams × fineness ÷ 1000 × rate per gram
- Wastage = metal value × wastage %
- Making = per gram × weight, or % of metal value, or a flat amount
- Subtotal = metal value + wastage + making + stones + other costs
- Then markup, then tax, then rounding to your rule
- Two limits can only raise the result: a floor above metal value, and a variant's own minimum price
Your data
- Assay stores no customer data: no names, emails, addresses, phone numbers or orders.
- It asks Shopify for one permission, to read and update products, and uses it to set variant prices.
- It stores the pricing details you enter and a history of the price changes it made.
- Your data is not sold and is not used for advertising.
- After you uninstall, everything stored for your shop is erased.
