The Stocky Shopify app after 31 August 2026: what still works and what to do now
Stocky, Shopify's inventory app, is no longer available as of 31 August 2026. It was delisted from the App Store on 2 February 2026, its APIs stopped on 31 August, and you keep read-only access to export your data for at least 90 days after that. Its jobs now live in the Shopify admin and POS: purchase orders, transfers, stock counts and adjustments. Two things don't carry over: your Stocky history (past purchase orders can't be imported, suppliers can't be exported) and the average unit cost, because Shopify keeps one fixed Cost per item and points to a third-party costing app for weighted average.

Where each Stocky job lives in Shopify now
Shopify moved Stocky's day-to-day work into the admin and POS. This is the job-by-job map, with what is still missing.
| Stocky job | In Shopify now | Watch |
|---|---|---|
| Purchase orders | Products > Purchase orders: draft, mark as ordered, PDF for the supplier, lines from a CSV | Can't be emailed from the admin; old Stocky purchase orders can't be imported |
| Receiving | On the inventory transfer linked to the purchase order: accept, reject or cancel each line, several shipments | One linked transfer per purchase order at a time |
| Transfers between locations | Products > Transfers, from the admin or POS | Moves between bins inside one location need an app |
| Stocktakes | Stock counts in the admin: plan, count, approve; Quick count in POS for spot checks of up to 1,000 items | Stocky's stocktake history doesn't move over |
| Adjustments | Inventory page, bulk editor or CSV, with preset reasons and an adjustment history | |
| Suppliers | Created in the Shopify admin | Can't be exported from Stocky; supplier SKUs and case packs go in metafields |
| Reorder suggestions | Sidekick suggests what to reorder and can draft the purchase order; Shopify Flow for low-stock alerts | Minimum and maximum levels through metafields |
| Average unit cost | None: Cost per item stays fixed when you receive | Shopify points to a third-party costing app |
| Reports | Analytics: inventory reports, custom reports, a purchase order cost report | No native report of purchase order spend by supplier |
| APIs | Transfers API; purchase order read access in developer preview | Stocky APIs stopped on 31 August |
What to export before read-only access ends
Shopify's list, from Stocky's built-in reports:
- All completed purchase order reports, as CSV files. They carry what you paid, by date. They are what rebuilds a cost history.
- Your stocktake history. Your counts, for audit records.
- Your historical cost data. The costs behind your average unit cost.
- Your suppliers, by hand. Shopify says they can't be exported.
Step by step, with what each file is for: export Stocky purchase orders and cost history.
What happens to your costs
Stocky recalculated an average unit cost each time you received a purchase order, and with automatic syncing turned on it overwrote Shopify's Cost per item. Shopify's own example: 30 units at $10.00 plus 15 received at a landed cost of $8.00 gives $9.33 (Shopify Help: Average unit cost). Since 31 August nothing does that inside Shopify: Cost per item stays fixed when you receive (Shopify Help). Here is the same product one delivery later:
| Units | Unit cost | Cost per item | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stock after Stocky's last receipt | 45 | $9.33 | $9.33 |
| New delivery in Shopify, after 31 August | 20 | $11.00 | stays $9.33 |
| Real weighted average of the 65 units | 65 | $9.85 |
(45 × $9.33 + 20 × $11.00) ÷ 65 = $9.85, using the unrounded $9.333. Every unit you sell from now on is costed $0.52 low in Shopify's profit reports, and the gap grows with each price change.
How True COGS fits
- Imports your Stocky purchase orders, many CSV files at once, each line with its original date. Free on every plan. The import is for day one: it runs before any delivery is recorded in True COGS.
- Recalculates the average on each delivery received in Shopify and writes it to Cost per item, the job Stocky's sync did. FIFO cost is on paid plans.
- Adds freight and duty to the cost of the units on paid plans.
- Doesn't replace Stocky's stock counts or forecasting. Shopify's admin covers counts; keep a planning app beside it if you relied on Stocky's forecasts.

Questions merchants ask
Is Stocky shut down?
Yes. Shopify's help says Stocky is no longer available as of August 31, 2026, and you now manage inventory in the Shopify admin and Shopify POS.
Can I still reinstall Stocky?
No. Stocky was delisted from the Shopify App Store on February 2, 2026, so it can't be reinstalled.
Until when can I export my Stocky data?
Shopify gives read-only access to export your data for at least 90 days after August 31, 2026, which is November 29, 2026. Shopify calls that a minimum and gives no later date, so export before then.
Can I import my Stocky purchase orders into Shopify?
No. Historical purchase orders can't be imported into Shopify. Shopify's purchase order CSV upload only adds product lines to a new draft purchase order, without statuses, received quantities or supplier links.
Can I export my suppliers from Stocky?
No. Shopify says suppliers can't be exported from Stocky. Copy their names, contacts and terms by hand and create them again in Shopify.
Do Stocky's APIs still work?
No. Stocky's APIs stopped working on August 31, 2026. Integrations need to move to Shopify's own inventory APIs, such as the Transfers API.
What replaces Stocky's average unit cost?
Nothing inside Shopify. Each variant has one static Cost per item that stays fixed when you receive a purchase order or transfer. For weighted-average costing, Shopify points to a third-party costing app.
Try True COGS free. True COGS is an inventory costing app for Shopify by Nexus Logic Systems. It records the price you paid on every delivery (a received purchase order or a transfer), with its share of freight and duty on paid plans, keeps every price with its date, and writes your moving weighted average cost, or FIFO cost on a paid plan, to Shopify's Cost per item. It is free for up to 25 variants with a cost on record; paid plans start at $29 a month or $290 a year.
