How to export Stocky purchase orders and cost history before read-only access ends

Updated · By Senoussi, developer of True COGS at Nexus Logic Systems

Short answer

Export now. Stocky stopped working on 31 August 2026, and Shopify gives read-only access to export your data for at least 90 days after that, which takes you to 29 November 2026. Shopify lists three things to export with Stocky's reports: all completed purchase order reports as CSV files, your stocktake history and your historical cost data. Suppliers can't be exported, and Shopify can't import past purchase orders, so keep the files for your records or load them into a costing app.

What to export

  • All completed purchase order reports, as CSV files. Your record of what you bought, when and at what price.
  • Stocktake history. Your counts, for audit records.
  • Historical cost data. The costs behind your average unit cost.
  • Your supplier list, by hand. Suppliers can't be exported from Stocky, so copy names, contacts and terms.

Shopify's advice is to export anything you need for tax or audit records before you move.

Step by step

  1. Open Stocky while read-only access lasts.
  2. Use Stocky's built-in reports to export the completed purchase order reports as CSV.
  3. Keep each purchase order's CSV file. Each one carries the order date and the cost paid on that delivery, which is what rebuilds a cost history.
  4. Export your stocktake history and your historical cost data.
  5. Copy your suppliers' details by hand.
  6. Save the files in two places, named by date.

What Shopify can and can't take

  • Historical purchase orders can't be imported into Shopify (Shopify Help).
  • Shopify's purchase order CSV upload only adds product lines to a draft purchase order. It doesn't bring statuses, received quantities or supplier links.
  • Cost per item is one fixed number per variant, so Shopify does not keep a weighted average from your old deliveries.

Where the costs can go

  1. Your records. Keep the files for tax and audit.
  2. Cost per item. Set each variant to its last average cost from the export, with the bulk editor or a product CSV.
  3. A costing app. Import the purchase orders so the average carries on from the history.

Importing into True COGS

  • Free on every plan.
  • Drop in many Stocky purchase order CSV files at once. Lines are placed by date, and the received quantity, not the ordered one, weights the average.
  • A line without a date, a cost or a SKU is skipped and counted, never filled in.
  • It is for day one: the import runs before any delivery is recorded in True COGS.
  • Or import one CSV of SKU and cost as opening costs. Either way, the imported cost can be written to Cost per item.

Questions merchants ask

When does Stocky read-only access end?

Shopify's help says you have read-only access to export for at least 90 days after 31 August 2026, which is 29 November 2026. That page gives no later date, so export before then.

Can I import Stocky purchase orders into Shopify?

No. Shopify's help says historical purchase orders can't be imported. The CSV upload only adds product lines to a draft purchase order.

Can I export suppliers from Stocky?

No. Shopify's help says suppliers can't be exported from Stocky. Copy their details by hand.

What happens to Stocky's average unit cost?

Shopify keeps one fixed Cost per item per variant, so the average does not carry on by itself. Export your historical cost data, then set Cost per item from it or import it into a costing app.

Can I import Stocky purchase orders into another app?

Yes, into an app that reads the CSV files. True COGS imports many Stocky purchase order files at once, by date, on every plan.

Try True COGS free. True COGS is an inventory costing app for Shopify by Nexus Logic Systems. It records the price you paid on every delivery (a received purchase order or a transfer), with its share of freight and duty on paid plans, keeps every price with its date, and writes your moving weighted average cost, or FIFO cost on a paid plan, to Shopify's Cost per item. It is free for up to 25 variants with a cost on record; paid plans start at $29 a month or $290 a year.
